Sometimes a pepper comes my way as a result of a hurricane. A few years ago I raced Hurricane Florence (Sept 2018) to the pepper fields of my friend Ed Currie of Puckerbutt Pepper Company, holder of the Guinness World Record for the hottest Pepper. I beat Florence to South Carolina from Montreal by 18hrs and brought back a couple hundred pounds of fresh pods. So hot was this pepper that it needed to be tamed down. When I got home I added 5% fresh Carolina Reaper to my Original Hurricane Mash recipe and Hurricane Florence was born!
After eating my Original Hurricane Mash daily since 1962 (yes, for 56 years) I got really excited the very moment I first tasted Hurricane Florence.
I was converted instantly and now my go-to hot sauce is Hurricane Florence.
