About as much as a chocolate maker knows about making hot and spicy foods, I suppose. But we’re about to find out. When Greg and I announced our new Scorpion Pepper Chocolates as the World’s Hottest Chocolates, we didn’t expect to ruffle anyone’s feathers; certainly not those of another chocolatier who just happens to be a friend! Well, suffice to say, a bit of smack talk back and forth, and the war was on! You can see the initial exchange in the Facebook forum Fire Breathing Idiots Dungeon) of our friend Ted Barrus; aka, Ted, the Fire breathing idiot on Youtube. You may have watched his review of our Butch T mash. Well, the war is going to take a few days to put together as several companies and several someones will be involved. In the red corner: Greg and Tina Brooks of Brooks Pepperfire Foods bringing the Peppermaster brand Scorpion chocolate! In the blue corner: Renee Rohrback and Ricky Sanders of The Madison Chocolatiers West bringing the P-Bomb! Our illustrious judges: Ted Barrus, Ted the Fire Breathing Idiot; http://www.youtube.com/user/tedbarrus Si Blakely, reviewer for Peppers and More, presenting his first video blog, http://www.youtube.com/user/evilaim Jeff Smith, Cutlery Lover http://www.youtube.com/user/cutlerylover Matt Zion: Wreckless Eating, http://www.youtube.com/user/wrecklesseating Brad Bishop, Bishop Brad: http://www.youtube.com/user/dbaptizt
Each judge will receive 6 pieces of each of the competitors’ chocolate confection. On the first day, they will do a standalone video of their review of the Peppermaster’s Scorpion Chocolate. On the Third day, they will do a standalone video of their review of The Madison Chocolatiers’ P-Bomb. Then on the fifth day, they will do a standalone video of their comparison of the two chocolates. Using a five star scale, they will comment during the video on how well each chocolate scores on the following subjects: Quality of the chocolate: This is a chocolate competition, after all. How rich is it? Is it smooth and creamy as chocolate should be. What do they like about the chocolate, what do they dislike? Flavour profile: How does it smell? Does it make the mouth water? Is it sweet enough, too sweet? Does it taste good. Can you taste the flavour of the pepper? What do they like about the overall flavour, what do they dislike? Heat Level: How hot is it? Is it as hot as you expected? Does the heat overwhelm the chocolate and the flavour? In the third video, the Vlogger will give his review of the two chocolates side by each declaring the scores given to each competitor and will announce his choice for the winner. This video can draw on each of the first two videos for its content. We have allowed a day between each of the videos so that there will be as much of a standalone judgement of each of the products as possible. We expect the entire project to be a great deal of fun and hope you’ll participate in watching the videos and hope you’ll share them with your friends. It is on.
